What's so special about the watch?

This solid gold wonder presents a great value proposition, complete with a nice back story as to how it's dial and acrylic became the way it is. Rustic and amazing in one package. 

For me there's always something special about a solid gold watch - the weight of the case, the particular sheen of a nice precious metal, and how shiny it gets after a quick rub. 

This particular piece has a nice story behind it - the way the acrylic crystal and the dial has boil-like texture - and it's really one of the reason I like this piece so much.

What are the functions of the watch?

Time and date.

Let me tell you about the case...

The 18k Yellow Gold case has a good heft to it. It sits well on your wrist with the short curved lugs that pushes the dial out really well. A nice detail about the lugs that went down well with me is the polished finish on the top and a nice satin one down the sides, telling me that no one got too anxious and put this guy through any cosmetic polishing.

A thick bezel lends to the weight of the watch, a simple silhouette for a dress pieces that screams for you to scrutinize the dial. But not before noticing the dome acrylic crystal has perculiar marks on the inside of it - they look like stretch marks from having the glass expanded over a long period of time. 

It does hamper the visibliity a little, but the whoel package in the watch led me to the decision to keep the look and retain a small part of its history.

And now the dial...

Match the stretch marks on the acrylic crystal with the tiny boils on the dial and you have signs that it's been sitting hot and warm in a drawer for some time. The boils are randomly scattered across the centre of the gold tri-tone dial, and really adds a lot of character to the otherwise plain presentation. 

Three tones of gold line the dial up, fastened in their place by polished, facted baton hour indices. The outer-most one a light copper and the middle sector a beautiful bronze with bits near the indices in a rich green patina.

And seated nicely at 3'O is the date window, blossoming from the dial and framing the serif fonts in the white date wheel. 

Each area of the dial presents a landscape of vintage appeal - absolutely stunning.

Let's not forget the hands...

Gold dauphine hands might not lend to legibility, but definitely lets the majestic dial shine through.
