What's so special about the watch?

Seiko's Lord Matic series of watches is an offering of dress watches in smaller sizes for that nice under-the-cuff feel, and come equipped with well-designed and comfortable bracelets. They present class and style in one neat package.

The coolness of a matte black dial really comes through with this piece - a nice flat profile and a realyl comfortable bracelet seals the deal.

What are the functions of the watch?

Three hander with day and date function. Quickset and hacking. Also, hand-windable.

Let me tell you about the case...

Lord Matics come in a variety of case shapes and designs, while really means a lot of choice for the collector. This one comes in a cushion case - puffed up at the side, with minimal protrusion to give it a nice almost square look. This also makes that nice black dial pop, and gives it a larger wrist presence.

For some Lord Matic cases you'll notice a slightly larger gap between the bezel and the case. These are for the watches that open up from the glass and do not offer a screw down case back. I think these are generally better since they will be less prone to meddling (they're a lot harder to open) with the obvious tell tale signs of a scratched up bezel. This one here unfortunately has had a little run in with an overenthusiastic serviceman; slight scratches can be seen on the bezel at 6.

And now the dial...

The dial here is a deep blackness - complementing the polished applied indices perfectly and making it a sight for sore eyes anytime. Applied logo marks for Seiko and the Lord Matic 'LM' are put at 12 and 6, with the horizontal machine finished day-date window at 3. Prints in white mark the Suwa logo as well as the minute hashes.

Let's not forget the hands...

Sharp hour and minute hands, a singular black strip down the middle, sweep the dial with a thin polished seconds hand. Lume down the gaps in the skeleton, and also on the tips of the indices.
