my vintage watches

The 30-second summary.

As a guy who readily appreciates gold watches (plated or sans) this particular Seiko chronograph brings it all to the table with its large case and clear lines, proving that gold and black can be as sporty as it is classy.

What's so special about the watch?

I personally like that large black sub-dial at 6'O. There's quite a bit of detail in this 38mm case that leaves you with a lot to look at, especially with the gold black combination. In fact the more you look the more charm it seems to get - a solid design within a solid case.

What are the functions of the watch?

30 minute chronograph, quickset day and date, time.

Let me tell you about the case...

What immediately strikes you is the thick polished bezel, sitting atop the c-case curves of a plated brass base. This actually sets the stage for the detailed dial and its awesome color combination.

This case in particular is in relatively good condition, its bevelled edges showing slightly and its lugs remaining thick and stalky. Hairline scratches are nary present, and no notable dings or damage is present.

Last but not least, the hardlex glass is in good condition sans for a scratch across at 5.

And now the dial...

There is so much charm in this gold dial, marked in stark contrast with its deep black lines in several thickness variations. There is almost as much black as there is gold it makes the pairing very pleasing to the eye.

The gold sunburst dial is in pristine condition. Hash minute and sub-minute markings are clearly printed inbetween each stick hour maker, a very nice detail to look at on the loupe. The sub-dial is recessed into the 6'O in true 6139 style, the minute hash marks printed firmly and clearly on its edge.

Dotted lume in a light gold stand at every hour mark, as they do on the hands, complementing the overall color theme of the watch perfectly.

Let's not forget the hands...

Deep black hands complete the look of the watch, with the same light gold on the hour and minute sweepers.
