my vintage watches

I love vintage chronographs. The older they are, the better they look to me. I don't know why, but somehow their dials and indices age so much better than the dress watches. Maybe it's because they tend to get more use.

"Vincent" here is a classic example - a two sub-dial layout home to ecentric hands that match the hour and minute ones, offering a window to the past in the wrist of your arm. It wears larger than it is, its long sharp lugs having to do with most of the reasons.

On the dial you see the typical tachymetre and telemetre tracks surrounding the dial in very legible print, unspoilt by time. the two subdials are guilloche'd with all its printing still nice and thick, cutting into the minute track while not impeeding the telemetre track.

The indices are a combination of applied teardrop markers and arabic numerals, turned black from oxidation. The hands are tarnished in the same hue, though not as dark.

Inside, the Landeron manual wind movement works like a charm, its balance wheel swinging great and ticking very consistently. The chronograph starts and stops well, and does a nice springy snap back on the reset.

Small in size but oozing charm, "Vincent" is definitely a gentleman's chronograph.
