What's so special about the watch?
Apart from their dress watch offerings, Titoni also made a series of awesome skin divers with (really) thin profiles and a x-factor that makes them a worthy contender for wrist time in any collection.
This watch has the skin diver DNA - no-frills layout, date wheel, slim profile - and a cool bi-directional bezel to boot. Its cool style and wrist presence sets it apart from the typical thick and chunky case styles of the other divers watches.
What are the functions of the watch?
It tells the time with a central sweep seconds, and also has a date window.
Let me tell you about the case...
Those familiar with Titoni's Air Master series will be happy that this skin diver carries the same slim case over - a thin polished side profile twists outwards like a strong man's moustache as it moves towards the lugs, creating a nice lyre luge feel reminiscent of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. Except classier.
The sides of the case remain sharp despite the use, the typical dings and hairline scratches adorning the polished surfaces of the entire case. Atop the case sits a simple, no fuss aluminum diving bezel that measures elipsed time. Bi-direction, of course. Because it's better that way. Pasta chefs delight. A large crown protrudes from the side, providing a nice grip to those lazy enough not to take off gloves when winding.
And on the case back a nice submarine (?) is engraved onto the raised bubble back, the letters SCP stamped beneath the Titoni brand name. I have no idea what all these mean, but that doesn't steal from its cool factor. Along the edges are also marks left by relentlessly crude watch makers and collectors, abusing their right to an open case back display.
And now the dial...
Like it's namesake, this Titoni Seascaper is a large ripple starting from the center and spreading out to the outer edge. The Seascoper has been printed in slunted style, emulating the effects of clear sea water on a shallow sand bed. Skin diver dreams anyone?
The indices are skinny polished sticks, reflecting the light well and leaving the spotlight to the large Titoni "Mei Hua" Flower at 12'O. At 6 and 9 are also nice beveled triangles, their tips broken off to accomodate the Titoni crystal usually found at 6. It had 660 feet of water resistance, but I don't think anyone would want to try that out now. No warranty for a lack of common sense here.
There's also a date window, cut deep with clean bevels exposing the white date wheel undernealth the dial.
Let's not forget the hands...
Dauphine on a diver. Interesting, bit it works. Much like many Air Masters.
