What's so special about the watch?
One of the most amazing things as vintage watch owner gets to experience is the intricate details of the watch. While I try to bring out the subtle nuances of the timepieces in my photos, it's nothing like having the real thing in front of your face. Not only are you privy to the tiniest details on the watch, you're given a the opportunity to imagine what the lovely sample would look like when it was brand new.
This Citizen Alarm 41 is a perfect example of what I described. A simple glance at the watch will tell you that there's so much about the watch to appreciate. In fact, I'm going to give you the experience of enjoying the watch as I do.
What are the functions of the watch?
Time telling, with mechanical alarm.
Let me tell you about the case...
Lyra lugs presents this watch case with a touch of class, and pairs with the yellow gold plating very well. The thin case profile continues with the polished bezel, keeping the overall presentation clean to give focus on what matters in the watch - its dial.
This aged examples has slight discoloration on the edges of the case, something that is common for vintage gold plated watches that have seen use. There are no major dings and scratches, except for the typical hairline scratches on its surface.
And now the dial...
The gold sunburst dial is clean and slightly domed, with an outer sector cut into the edges. This treatment complements the long, applied, hour indices well to present a fresh take on the clean dial of a mechanical alarm watch. Each index sits nicely along the edge of the dial, with a double accent at 12 to complete the dressy dial. Within the carved sector are printed minute markers and the Citizen brand, neatly pressed onto the dial in a deep black ink.
This example has aged gracefully with an even coat of time across the surface and no noticeable marks.
Let's not forget the hands.
This watch has four hands - a short stubby alarm hand, a thin and graceful center seconds, and two sharp dauphine hour and minute hands. All of them are the same plated yellow gold as the index.
