my vintage watches

What's so special about the watch?
WMT watches are homage on steroids - as far as the vintage watch collector is concerned. Their main selling point is in taking iconic watches from the past, mainly from the Rolex and Tudor brand, and then taking them to town with fauxtina. For many like me, who do not have One Watch kind of money to shell out for the real deal, WMT offers a feel of what vintage legends would look and feel like on our wrists. This particular model is shaped after the vintage Tudor Snowflake Submariner, and was released in December 2021 with limited quantity of 100 pieces.

What are the functions of the watch?

Time and date.

Let me tell you about the case...

Vintage submariners are nice and slim, this example sitting 13mm off the wrist from case back to top of crystal. Despite being flat, the slim case sits really nicely on your wrist and doesn't really hang too much off the sides.

WMT did a very good job replicating the dimensions and finish here - the characteristic 'horns' off the lugs and the beveling are all executed nicely. Even the skirting on the bezel is nicely made, the aluminum bezel faded nicely to showcase the blueberry hue.

The sides of the case are high polish, with the famed 'pointed guard' and a nicely coin-edged screw down crown with the WMT logo. Honestly the case back is where they came off a little weak. Not wanting a face a lawsuit (I guess) the Rolex coin-edge case base was forgone for a vintage case back key type.

Oh I also need to speak about the bracelet, which is also nicely executed in a nice oyster style in full-metal. The clasp backbone also has a nice engraving for the WMT brand. Very cool.

And now the dial...

The fauxtina on this dial is amazing - the matte surface of the dial has a nice bumpy texture that's very apparent in vintage dials. The white printing of the logo and specifications are nice and curvy sitting off the pimply dial. Off the rim are the lume plots, dutifully plastered onto their designated areas with a deft precision of a top student coloring in their MCQ ovals.

Hash marks are light and precise, and there's even a L-GFF1-L marking at 6 under the lume plot. I have no idea what that means, so if anyone can enlighten me that'll be awesome.

Let's not forget the hands...
