my vintage watches

What's so special about the watch?
WMT watches are homage on steroids - as far as the vintage watch collector is concerned. Their main selling point is in taking iconic watches from the past, mainly from the Rolex and Tudor brand, and then taking them to town with fauxtina. For many like me, who do not have One Watch kind of money to shell out for the real deal, WMT offers a feel of what vintage legends would look and feel like on our wrists. This particular model is shaped after a honeycomb Rolex Milgauss from the 50s.

What are the functions of the watch?

Time only.

Let me tell you about the case...

Explorer cases are a nice slim profile, with tapered lugs that postition the watch nicely on your wrist. The lugs offer a slight curve towards the edge of the wrist, urging the strap or bracelet to wrpa nicely around for a snug look.

WMT is known for their quick weathering effect on their dial, hands and cases, and this one is no different. The effects applied on the case are a llight touch - slight scratches and brushes have been applied (I swear they were not made by me) to offer a 'lightly used' look. The taper on the lug edge has been spared the treatment.

The bezel is made of brass, and offers a light gold tint to the watch, adding to a nice side profile. If one cares to scrutinise the aluminum bezel, you will notice the slight aging effect applied too, with light brushes that case a sort of 'rubbing' effect.

The case back is screw down, with the WMT brand laser engraved. Nothing to see here, not even scratches.

And now the dial...

The dial achieves two effects - a honycomb texture and a tropical burn that makes it a nice tanned brown when seen from certain angles. I appreciate the effect by WMT to make the lume plots faded highlighter yellow, which complements the tropical tone. Vintage Milgauss are characterised by shark tooth markers from the bezel to the dial, and this one carries that DNA.

The shark tooth indices at 3, 6, 9, and 12 have been given a high shine effect, emulating white gold markers. This is also a cool detail because pure white gold has a slightly yellow tint, and that goes really well with the brass bezel that seeps through the side the bezel skirting.

More details on the dial are the white printing and a nice red "Sub-Milius" that's reminiscent of the vintage Rolex Milgauss.

Let's not forget the hands...

Pointy with matching lume. The emblematic thunderbolt hands of the Milgauss make an appearance here, with a nice red arrow end matching the large triangle pip on the bezel as well as the printing on the dial.
