What’s so special about the watch

Let me tell you about the case

The stainless-steel case measures 37mm, a very wearable size that gives the watch enough substance without overwhelming the wrist. What really changes its character is the black ceramic bezel, which provides a strong contrast against the polished steel and ties the whole watch together with the bracelet. Sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the exhibition case back gives you a view of the Calibre 5 automatic movement inside. There is a sporty vibe to it, but there is enough polish here to make it work just as comfortably away from casual wear.

Black is doing most of the work here, but it certainly isn't plain. The lacquered dial has a deep, glossy quality that gives the watch a much richer appearance than the usual Formula 1 tool-watch treatment. Diamond hour markers provide the obvious touch of luxury, but they are kept small enough that the dial does not become overly flashy. Around the edge, additional markers preserve the sporting character, while the date window is tucked neatly into the layout at 6.

Let’s not forget the hands

The polished baton-style hour and minute hands are lume-filled, maintaining the practical side of the Formula 1 despite all that shine elsewhere. Against the black dial they are highly legible, while the slim central seconds hand keeps things neat and uncluttered. Their straightforward design is probably exactly what this dial needs and lets the diamonds and glossy black surface provide the drama without adding yet another competing element.
